The current course of the Covid-19 epidemic and all existing protective and restrictive measures do not yet make possible to estimate the future development and date of the society's return to the standard mode. We can assume that massive vaccinations would change this situation and our predictions will soon be more accurate. We consider the NE•RS 2020 conference to be necessarily organize as a contact one, as a place for important and beneficial personal communication, and hence the term of
13th Annual Conference on Nuclear Energy NE•RS 2020 “TAXONOMY – A KEY TO SUCCESFUL DEVELOPMENT OF NUCLEAR ENERGY”
is moved to II. quarter of 2021
Nuclear energy used to play very important (possibly marked as “fantastic”) role in electricity generation during last 50 years. Currently the atmosphere of distrust is typical for the European institutions, mainly EP. As result of that, the taxonomy does not include the nuclear power into the category of “clean technologies (emission-free and without possible harm of the environment)“, what anticipates problems in financing of nuclear projects.
We, in Czechia, are commencing the nuclear project (new nuclear build in Dukovany), and we are seriously influenced by the EU attitude (due to the notification etc.).
In connection with it we need to fight against the knowledge incompetence and misinterpretations through the presentations of the realistic view and evaluation. It is the strong interest of our country, and we believe the same as also for the other nuclear countries interesting in the new nuclear build in near future (Finland, France, Romania, Bulgaria, Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia etc.).
That is a reason to focus on taxonomy of the NE•RS 2020 Conference.
The conference program will consist three sessions, where:
- top politicians and officials from “nuclear” countries and relevant international institutions will discuss on the need and importance to correctly classify the nuclear power in EU taxonomy
- representatives of the investor and expected suppliers will present their view and solution related to the doubts expressed during taxonomy process in EU institutions
- acknowledged experts in radioactive waste management, and nuclear and radiation safety, will evaluate the analyses and results of the impact of nuclear power on the environment and human health, and media experts will present their view how to improve the communication with politicians and public to take the correct and realistic attitude to the all possible energy sources.
