A number of studies of renowned universities and institutions including International Energy Agency clearly stated that there is no chance to comply with ambitious goals in emission-free electricity production within next thirty years without very substantial share of using of nuclear energy. Despite of that, and together with the awareness that nuclear power is indisputably emission-free technology, the EU taxonomy has not included it among the "first class" of energy sources. Due to this is possible to expect more problems in financing of the new nuclear projects.
This is the reason the NE•RS 2020 Conference will focus:
- on the political discussion how to reach the change of the nuclear power classification,
- on the evidence given by investors and top technology suppliers on the highest standards of the new nuclear builds complying with criteria of sustainability and "do no significant harm" and
- on the analyses of the top experts in nuclear and radiation safety, and radioactive waste management, which disprove the false information (including their media presentation) related to radioactive waste disposal and environmental impacts of nuclear power
The first part of the morning session is chaired by Rut Bízková (former Minister of the Environment and Chairperson Emeritus of the Czech Technology Agency). Call for papers is sent to A. Babiš (Prime Minister of the Czech Republic), K. Simson (EU Commissioner for Energy), Y. Desbazeille (FORATOM DG), M. Chudakov (IAEA DDG), W. D. Magwood (OECD NEA DG), S. Bilbao y León (WNA DG), and S. Kotting Uhl (Member of EP). We also expect the position of the professionally affiliated Deputies of Minister from the countries planning new nuclear builds.
The second part of the morning session is chaired by Daneš Burket, president of the Czech Nuclear Society. On the side of investor B. Zronek (Chief Nuclear Officer and member of the Board of Directors of ČEZ) will present the ČEZ view, and the presentation of renowned experts of all possible bidders for the new nuclear build in Dukovany (EDF, KHNP, CGN, Rosatom and Westinghouse) is under the negotiation.
During the afternoon session the key invited speakers
J. Mišák (Director of Strategy, Nuclear Research Institute in Řež and IAEA expert)
J. Marek (President of the Association of Nuclear Veterans and Chairman of the NERS 2020 Conference)
J. Žižka (analyst and media expert)
will outline the information related to discussed topics in nuclear power classification, which will be more developed in the contributions of J. Hůlka (National Radiation Protection Institute), R. Trtílek (Director of the RAW Dept. of the Nuclear Research Institute in Řež), L. Vondrovic (Head of the RAW Repository Planning Department, Radioactive Waste Repository Authority) and others.
As usual – after the end of official session the Conference will continue by the social meeting – networking.
